I am not affiliated with any car dealership.

I am just a contented owner of an affordable quality car.

In a blog someone asked: Will you buy a Honda or a Toyota?

Will I?

Read my fingertips!

The Car Race of the Decade

The automotive companies are all in a mad race to win the market with a tough economy.

Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chevy to name a few top contenders.

The stakes are up for grabs.

The Accidental Cheerleader

Chugging down the lanes of D.C. in his 200,000 miles pick-up truck, Scott Brown has accidentally become the Cheerleader for the local brand (GMC).

What better banner holder for a local brand than a celebrity of his stature.

The high mileage of this GMC-Canyon truck whose battery is still going, going, going, speaks well for the local brand.

It is a loud hurrah for “durabilité, qualité, longevité”.

The availability of parts and accessibility of service spells “convenience.”

A Ford or Chevy or GMC team is just around the track to render expert workmanship.

So why not place the bet on a local brand?

Toyota and Honda Losing Steam?

I do not want to rub salt to injury, but I do believe, that the beleaguered Toyota and Honda will take a long time to get back to full speed.

Let the Race Begin

FORD zooms into the arena.

Chevy turboes into the field.

Placing a Layman’s Stake into the Race

Choosing a car usually first appeals to one’s sense of sight.

Eyes dart to a car that whizzes by.

The design excites the senses .

Nice,clean, upscale and “different”.

It must be a foreign car, one surmises.

What? It’s a FORD?

No way. One rubs the eyes in disbelief.

The blue oval logo glares back .

It’s a Ford, indeed!

Go, Ford!

Personally, I am a local brand fan.

I’ve had my own affairs with the Ford vehicles.

Held its wheels on cruise or expressway mode.

Revved its pedals during frigid or sweltering weather.

Savored the Lincoln’s smooth limo drive.

Loved the Taurus Wagon’s beastly power.

And cherished the Escort’s efficiency.

Like Scott Brown’s pick-up, the proof is in the running.

My Dad’s 1952 Ford Wagon is the poster child of what a quality vehicle should be .

Real cool and spacious.

Dad’s Ford must have been the pre-cursor of the SUV where it seated 5 children, 2 housekeepers, one or 2 relatives plus Dad and Mom.

And ..tons of baggage.

It was a donkey that brought us, from point A to Z anytime, anyhow and anywhere through gravel, sand or asphalt.

My Dad had long ago given up the car keys and drove a Chariot to heaven but his ‘52 Ford is still navigating the rustic roads in 2010.

So why not hoot for Ford?

Ford’s history is rich with lore.

It had its spurts and speedy runs.

Ford was not spared of its woes down the track.

But ever the Champ, it keeps going back into the race.

CHEVY, too

Chevy had its problems with some of its vehicles but solutions were applied without delay.

It’s got power.

It’s got class. .

It’s got reliability.

It boasts fuel economy.

It banners affordability.

I know because, I am a proud Chevy owner.

The Races of the Past

For the past years the foreign car captured the top prize.

Honda topped the list of consumer reviews.

And Toyota made the grade.

But the spokes of their Wheels of fortune broke recently.

A MASSIVE recall on the Racetrack

Toyota and Honda scramble to correct the mechanical errors.

Too late, the damage is done.

The screech of brakes is heard far and wide.

While Toyota and Honda step on the emergency brakes to prevent a total crash.

Ford and Chevy find themselves back on track.

It’s a good time for Ford and Chevy to rev it up and go for the prize.

The road is clear!

Ladies and gentlemen,

The race is on.

Your bet is as good as mine.
